I was originally interested in The Studio based on the vegan/vegetarian options as I don't eat dairy or gluten so I liked that the menu included non-dairy items. I was lucky enough to get a reservation and then find a LivingSocial deal after reserving our table. My boyfriend plays guitar and paints, and was happily surprised when there was an artist live painting as well as live music. The staff went out of their way to satisfy my eating restrictions and make sure I was aware of the choices I had, and I really appreciated that service as other places seem to think it isn't a big deal. But our service was commendable and tailored to us, and that meant so much to me. Luckily, our food matched our experience, with it being expertly prepared and one of the best meals we have had together. I had the pad Thai, and he had the paella; neither of us were disappointed in the least. We will be returning on our next trip to the island- we gushed the whole way home tonight. The combination of tailored service, ambiance, and truly delightful food has left us in awe and planning our return.

A little too pretentious for me. I can appreciate the arts but you are a dang hippie!! Relax yourself. This restaurant is hidden in the commercial plaza amongst office buildings. It's very dimly lit and romantic but the atmosphere is a little weird. Anyways, the crab soup and the duck appetizer were the best items on the menu. The escargot dish was too artsy...took away from the escargot, they came on top of a fried sweet potato chunk with some sauce. The indian soup special was just a glorified lentil with veggie soup. I got the paella - rice was overcooked...very mushy. They give you plenty if fish and seafood with this dish. After I complained about my rice, the waiter just apologized and mentioned he would've re-made the rice but I didn't want to wait for that to happen. Fiancé said his filet mignon was good though. Their espresso was gross - I think it was watered down majorly and they ran out of sambuca. Would've been nice to throw in the dessert on the house since we ordered everything on the menu practically. We missed the service that should've came with this place.

Tattooed vegans who were dressed like we just came from the beach and we (and our 2 dogs) were treated like first class guests. If you are looking for vegan dishes that are perfectly seasoned yet where the natural flavors shine through and are complimented as a result of how it is seasoned and cooked, you must go here. Any vegan restaurant is pricey, regardless of atmosphere, BUT the portions are so fair here that it is hard to be upset at the price. Nothing was over or under cooked! The veggies were cooked yet not mush. A nice snap to everything made me feel like there was still nutrition in what I was eating. People who say this place is too classy or high brow, must feel intimidated or have a lack of self love. It's an intimate venue with local art and great food. It's 5 star dining without the white shirt awkwardness server. Go here! Come as you are. Eat, drink and be merry. My only gripe was that the lovely wife owner seemed nervous about something. Maybe because they were packed. Good for them!

I wish there were more stars to give than 5! This is absolutely my favorite dining experience on the island. Lovely food, vegan and vegetarian options, and generous portions. The service was absolutely fantastic, wine selection impeccable, and the artwork gives a unique feeling and homey ambiance. Also! We got a $20 for $40 deal on Yelp! Can't go wrong! Try it out. Highly recommend! We'll be back!

I love this place and have been here many times. The service is very good and the food consistent. The menu is broad enough for the picky eaters. I love the inside with wonderful art truly special. Special care is taken with each and every plate. We had the filet and a fish very grand. The salads were fresh. Please don't forget about the desserts they are homemade and extremely good

Amazing experience! Went here for my one year anniversary with my vegetarian boyfriend and couldn't have picked a better location. The owner gave amazing service and even though we are in our early 20's, treated us like adults. Thanks for the best experience I could have ever asked for. This is a must go to place to eat and celebrate.

Customer service at The Studio was top notch. It was a little pricey and the ambiance was slightly cheesey but the amazing staff, owners, and delicious food will make me come back again!

Fabulous. Do not worry about the art comments. We loved it. Intimate dining in an artistic environment made for a very personalized experience. Food was exceptional and unique.

Excellent food, service and atmosphere. It is not often restaurants get all of these things right. Definitely recommend.

My wife and I have been coming here for nine years. We have had great meals in an intimate atmosphere that is unique and pleasing. Keep up the great work Paul and Lunonia!

The wait staff was excellent! Very nice courteous and accommodating. The food was sub par unfortunately. The menus were tore. The cloth seats were dirty. For a classy restaurant it was much overrated. I ordered grouper which was tough and very fishy smelling. It almost made me loose it. They brought me Salmon instead. It was much better. Probably would not go back. I sent back the Grouper and got Salmon instead and realized they charged me the higher price for the Grouper and it was gross. I was going to give three stars, but then I realized they tried to bamboozle me. If anything they should have given me a discount for the trouble.

Incredible, the service and food were amazing and the atmosphere is so unique. The owners are the chef and the artist of the restaurant. If you are having an adult night out you have to come here.

This restaurant is so cheap that they use peanut butter rather than tahini for humus. What makes it horrible is that even though nut allergies are the most common and dangerous they refuse to make sure customers are aware of their unorthodox recipe. A dangerous place to eat.

Yes, yes, yes! My family can take me back to The Studio anytime! ;) First of all, we were seated at the table right in front of the live musician and beside the artist painting at an easel (which apparently makes some people uncomfortable), but really, it was great! The decorations are simple and classy (branches covered in lights, red drapes from the ceiling) and THE ART. Maybe the nude ones aren't for everyone, but wow, the paintings were beeeaautiful! If you want a cocktail recommendation, get the raspberry Cosmo. Our table started with bread and butter, the crab bisque, and the ahi tuna (with seaweed salad) - so good! The trio special was apparently to die for and the grouper with crab on top got glowing reviews. I tried the pad Thai with shrimp and although good (I did clear the plate afterall), I was wishing I had ordered the salmon instead. So, maybe skip that one. What I thought makes this restaurant better than most pricey restaurants in its class, were how many vegetarian/vegan options there were!! And can we please talk about dessert? Y'all, THE CHOCOLATE MOUSSE. I just...I mean...*speechless*. It's very rich so definitely split it with someone! Service is at The Studio was fantastic. It's personal, friendly, professional, and we never wanted for anything. Check in on Yelp for a free glass of wine! Yep, I can't wait to come back on a return trip to Hilton Head.

Really enjoyed both of the Chef's specials. One was a Chef's selection including lamb chops with a reduction sauce, grouper with crab cover, and a petite filet with goat cheese. We had a party of seven. We had a couple of nice bottles of wine recommended by Chef Paul from Sardinia, name escapes me. Our second entree from special was flounder on top of risotto and little neck clams. A sort of paella.... 2 others of the party had the same dishes, rounded out with a full order of the lamb chops, and their signature salad, with 4 servings of Cajun gumbo, an Ahi Tuna appetizer, and the red pepper humus. Everyone was satisfied, full, and thrilled by various flavors.

This is truly a wonderful place to be in Hilton Head. The owners are fun, the food is great and the atmosphere is very open. Please don't miss this special treat!

This is a very edgy place. Provocative would also be an appropriate word. We were looking for somewhere different and boy did we find it. Food and service were excellent. Started with the studio salad. Very good. Hubby cleaned his plate of salmon. Said it was the best meal he's had on the island. High praise from him. MIL got the duck breast and loved it. FIL got scallops and said they were excellent. I got the Pad Thai. They aren't kidding when they say it's spicy. I can normally handle red curry but not that night. So, I'm going to put that one on me. Hubby, who loves all things mouth scorching, said it was great. MIL got the crumb cake and oohhed and ahhed over it. FIL got an irish coffee ( a first for him) and said it was great. Hubby loved his mocha coffee thing with some sort of liquor in it. I will say: this is not a place for children. It's small and unless they are as well behaved as I was as a child, not the right place for them. And the artwork can be....half naked. If that makes you uncomfortable, you might have a problem. It was tasteful but very naked.

Come for the art, not the food. Okay, in fairness, there's nothing wrong with the food. I was just a little let down based on the build up of "creative", "different" and "artistic" Let me start by saying the service really was excellent - professional, friendly and the right level of "touch". The ambiance was also good. I've seen some reviews complaining about the artwork - okay, if your bothered by nudity, than your not going to like it - but it's interesting and very well executed. The paintings are done by one of the owners. It's a great concept actually, a husband and wife, one who loves food, one who loves paintings bringing their passions together in one place. There was live music on the night that we dined which normally we wouldn't care for while eating good food, however it wasn't intrusive. As I said up front, there was nothing wrong with the food, I was just hoping for more creative and lighter. My wife and I will fully acknowledge being spoiled by *great* restaurants around the world so sometimes it is hard to be inspired. The dishes were all conceived with thought in them, however in their execution, the flavors tended to blend in a way that made them average instead of standing out. The dishes we ate had lost the subtlety that they were probably conceived with. Either there now being executed to serve the palate of the regular Hilton Head demographic or they need practice and tweeking. I had the duck apetizer - best course of the dinner, which was actually promising. I then had the lamb rack with risotto. Execution fell down here. The lamb was cooked perfectly however the risotto lacked any subtlety, had too much of the wrong cheese and seasoning and didn't support or strengthen the lamb. My wife had a salad which was overdressed and way to "oniony" and the scallops, which unfortunately came with the same risotto. The risotto didn't work with the lamb and REALLY didn't work with the scallops. We didn't have dessert - just weren't inspired too. I guess I'd finalize by saying again the service and ambiance were great and there was nothing wrong with the food, it just dissapointed.

Very good; small menu. Recommend the filet mignon. Salads are overpriced. $100 for 2.

Great food, great music, and a super hot blond artist Lunonia that paints naked obscure pictures of herself and has them for sale all over the restaurant. If you like food and clean family fun then you will enjoy Studio as much as I did. BTW I ordered the ahi tuna for dinner and it was moist and scrumptious.

This place is strange, which is good cause I like strange. Like "artsy" strange, not like creepy man that stares at you while on public transportation "strange". Went during the week so didn't get to experience the music. Walked in and was informed that the bartender behind the bar was also the artist that painted about 7 paintings around the restaurant. The paintings mostly included nudes of women and the "best" one was a portrait of a nude woman with the head of a ox. Ordered the escargot as an appetizer which was good. I ordered the scallops with mashed potatoes. The entree cost around 30 dollars itself and there were only 4 scallops for the entire entree. The scallops were large enough but I think the meal could have been bigger. My friend ordered the pad thai with shrimp, around 23 or so dollars and he said it was "good". I'm sure eve better pad thai could be found for cheaper at a thai restaurant. Overall the food was good but the alcohol and food was expensive. Not really a restaurant for children. I'd like to say I'd come back if I ever visited Hilton Head Island again but its too rich for my taste, but if you got the dough swing by cause you might like it.

Cozy, warm and relaxing atmosphere. Wonderful local singer and musician. Danced with the talented and exceedingly beautiful owner. Oh, the food and wine was something any chef would be proud to serve. My wife and I are entertaining our upstate friends by visiting the Island's best restaurants. At the Studio, our friends were made to feel special by the service, entertainment, personal attention, and ambiance of the facility, especially the eclectic artwork.

One of my least favorite restaurants EVER. Food is mediocre, live music is mediocre, glitzy tableware aims to be modern, but is just annoying. At our table of six we had four dishes: the salmon with a maple glaze which was overly sweet and over -cooked, an indian lamb dish the sauce of which seemed to be tomato sauce with a bit of curry powder mixed in, grouper that was cooked ok, but had a weird flavor, and a steak au poivre that our friend called "creamed meat." Mussels with green curry appetizer...the waiter warned was spicy Good, I like spicy, but there was absolutely no hint of the green curry...just cream and salt. Overpriced, poorly prepared food, an '80s vibe in the decor, pretentious menu, MEH.

My family and I have been going to 'The Studio" for years. I've had just about everything on the menu and it's pretty hard to go wrong with this place. The chef cooks everything perfectly and has a true culinary skill. Moreover, the cordial wait staff always makes the dining experience better. The only complaint I have is the lack of menu progression. Every year that I go to "The Studio" the menu essentially remains the same. Though everything made has a lovely taste, I would like to see something different and perhaps more exotic for the price you pay for an entrée.

ALWAYS excellent! Our favorite restaurant on Hilton Head Island. Awesome food & drinks. Great atmosphere & owners are very friendly & go over & beyond to satisfy. You can go wrong with this restaurant!

This is a really amazing restaurant. The staff are very nice, the atmosphere wonderful, and the food truly top notch! They offer a "Palette" combo dish, offering a mixture of their most popular dishes. Everything on the dish was prepared to perfection, especially the medium rare filet mignon (perfectly cooked!). I suggest sitting in the back room, if possible. The decor is a bit better, and you can still hear the music (Fridays and Saturdays). The musician is great too, playing all the best songs from just before today. Give this place a shot, you won't be disappointed!

Classy, yet fun! Owned by an artist and a chef! What an amazing selection of entrees sure to please anyone's pallet. You can't beat their early dining 3 course specials, a total steal at $16.99! The art work is quite interesting and paired with exceptional service, a real gem on this island! The wild catch salmon dish was perfect and my husband enjoyed the lamb chops with an Indian flair. A must visit!

We did the chef sampler with wine pairing. Delicious and very reasonable. Our server was the chef's wife and co-owner and the artist as well. Would do it again tomorrow!

We just had dinner here last night. Very good, but it is pricey. I had the strip steak, cooked perfectly, which came with grilled mushrooms and lobster Mac n cheese. Very good, but so rich . I had the crab and vidalia onion bisque. Best crab bisque ever, and I'm from Maryland! A little tomatoey, with just a little kick. Husband had scallop appetizer and said they were good. Nice portion of four on real scallop shells. Then he had ahi tune, a large piece cooked rare. Also good. Wine was a little expensive at $11 a glass, but excellent. Nice atmosphere, quiet, dark and a very good vocalist with the best sound system I've ever heard in a small room. A little hard to find, but Hilton Head likes to keep all their buildings tastefully hidden. There are tourists from Ohio still trying to find their hotel after three years!!!

The worst experience in Hilton Head. Despite room in the main dining room, was shown a table in an otherwise empty back room. No attempt to accomodate a requested change of table so it was take it or leave it....we left and will not be back.

Everything was great. Service was great, food was great, atmosphere was great. The prices are on the high end for the quality of food presented, but the dishes were well-prepared and, you know, it's Hilton Head. If you're looking for a nice dinner and are ready to drop ~50-75/person, try The Studio.

This is one of the very few restaurants in Hilton Head for a special night out. The service is very good as is the food. The ambiance is nice and could be considered "dressy" for Hilton Head. Quiet enough for easy conversation plus pleasant live background music. It is worth the visit.

I recently traveled to Hilton Head, SC and had the pleasure of dining at The Studio. It was the best artistic dining experience ever! The fusion of blending great food, live music, and art all in one was indescribable. The price point for the amount of food you receive is a steal, and the service is beyond impeccable. Our servers were well informed about the dishes we ordered and the wines they suggested were a marvelous accompaniment to the food. While their attitudes towards us were as though we were royalty, I noticed that all the other diners were smiling and enjoying their experience as if they royalty too. The service was just that great. I hope you will make the trip to enjoy this enchanting experience.

We dined here back in May of 2008 and had an amazing experience, so as soon as we got a chance to go back, tonight, June 1, 2010, we jumped at the chance. Just as we remembered, the meal was flawless. The signature studio salad is a fantastic start, along with fresh sourdough bread. The fillet mignon was cooked to a perfect medium as I requested and melted in my mouth. Their blueberry crumb cake is to die for, but I was so full from dinner I had to take it home. Loved everything about this place, and coming from two foodie NYCers, that says alot.
